Seeing all the flags was pretty extraordinary!
Eastern Europe isn’t a force on the world football stage like Western Europe, or South America, yet the followers are extremely enthusiastic.
I enjoyed going to club football matches across Eastern Europe in 2017. Not all were great ambience sensible, yet there were some standouts. Memories that will stick around for the rest of my time on this earth.
The following are 4 Eastern European football experiences I enjoyed. And also one game I can’t not discuss because of the two groups & players entailed. The most well-known athletes inspire regularly, which drew me to this suit.
Partizan FC vs. Mladost Lucani in Belgrade (9/9/17)

This video game kicked off at 9 pm, the late starting time that ended up being a norm in Eastern Europe. On arrival at the stadium, there were couple of followers, however wow, the number of trouble authorities was amazing.

Red Celebrity Belgrade vs. BATE in Belgrade (14/9/17)
The followers were squeezed in to support on Red Star Belgrade.
Red Celebrity is the other club based in Belgrade. Red Celebrity vs. Partizan FC is frequently rated as one of the top competitions worldwide. I was too late for that unfortunately.
I was about two weeks late to see that played out yet did get to see one Red Celebrity Belgrade play a UEFA Europa League Group Match.
I scalped a final ticket and strolled into an absolutely packed stadium. There was no chance I was reaching my designated seat. The crowd energy was amazing, specifically see thousands swing what appeared to be shiny cardboard at the same time. That made the video game worth seeing alone!
Final Result: 1 – 1 draw
Zeljeznicar vs Zrinjski Mostar in Sarajevo (30/9/17)
Sarajevo and Mostar are two of the most popular cities in the country, so I wasn’t sure what to anticipate derby-wise. Thankfully my blue hoody matched the home team’s colours after once again discovering a huge trouble police presence. And the authorities dog who offered me an enormous fright!
Throughout the video game, there were some flares lit, yet the other thing to note was the ~ 35 Mostar supporters in the far corner. They had been quiet all video game till they took the lead.
For the next 15-minutes, they were dancing up a tornado with some type of strobe light giving the appearance they were in a club. Interestingly, and maybe wisely, they left 10 minutes before fulltime.
Outcome: 0 – 1 win to Zrinjski Mostar
Turkey vs. Albania in Antalya (13/11/17)
Sustaining Turkey for the evening.
At the time of composing, this was one of the most current football match I’ve attended. There was little build up to the suit without any advertisements around the city.
The video game was a friendly, with little on the line. Both sides ran out Globe Mug certifying opinion. I didn’t see any type of Albanian flags at the arena, however there were at least 32,529 flags. Why such a certain number?
Every single seat was draped with a flag. This was unbelievable, and need to must fire up the gamers when they see so much satisfaction as the gone out onto the pitch.
Final Result: 2 – 3 win to Albania
Bonus: Barcelona FC Legends vs. Manchester United
Legends in Barcelona (30/6/17)
Getting a chance to be pitchside before the Barcelona Legends played the next day.
Before heading to Eastern Europe, I was in Barcelona. This match was never about the top quality, with some of the football gamers plainly not keeping up their physical fitness degrees. Having already saw the Camp Nou gallery twice, getting to see a game at Camp Nou Stadium was magic.
It wasn’t a sellout, and the fans didn’t appreciate the result. They were grateful to see several of their favorite players of perpetuity shoelace up the boots and display a few tricks. Me as well! Due to the match, Ronaldinho is currently one of my favorite sports personalities.
Naturally, deep down, a player’s shedding need to win never ever vanishes.

What Can You Gain from This?
If I was a really passionate follower of football, watching the matches might have been burning out. A few of the video games weren’t of the best quality. That’
true. But I never would have got to experience:
- standing on seats for 90-minutes
- waving flags with 20,000+ others
- Arenas without any alcohol sales
And so much more complexities that compose the society of each nation.
Experiencing culture via sports is something you must do even more of. It’s truly incredible.
